Dan Ward, Mining – APAC at Airobotics, and current Chairperson of the WA Australian Institute of Mine Surveyors (AIMS), will be speaking at the AIMS National Conference in Townsville. Titled “The future of Mine Surveying, Automation and the Digital Revolution”, Dan will share how emerging automation technologies and digitalisation are having a profound impact on the mining industry and is set to change the way Surveyors operate over the next decade. His belief is that leadership and increased participation should be encouraged in this mining digital revolution – “disrupt or be disrupted”. Mining digitalisation will drive the demand for more data, producing higher quality data and at an increased frequency. The future responsibilities of a Surveyor are set to evolve from being one spent on data collection in the field to a focus on management and analysis of the captured data. This presentation will hypothesis what the future role of a Surveyor will look like. Assessing the challenges and provide an understanding of what automated data capture means for mining operations and the Survey profession.
The presentation is set to take place at 11.30am, on Friday, 14 September at Pavilion 1.
