Veteran executives join Airobotics to accelerate revenue growth as the company advances its automated drone solutions through a unified data platform
Scottsdale, Arizona (January 30, 2019) – Leading automated drone startup Airobotics announced today the hiring of William Atkins as Chief Financial Officer and Rick Baker as Chief Revenue Officer, both based at the company’s new global headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona. These key appointments further extend Airobotics’ commitment as the end-to-end, fully automatic solution to collect, process and analyze aerial data on a single platform.
“We are excited to have these outstanding leaders join our executive team. William and Rick each bring an impressive record of success in their respective areas,” said Ran Krauss, CEO and Co-Founder of Airobotics. “Their contributions to the growth of Airobotics will be immediate as we continue to scale our automated hardware and software solutions to address market demand in multiple regions.”
Atkins and Baker are both seasoned industry executives. Atkins formerly enhanced and scaled the finance and legal teams at Calix, Fairfax Partners and Intelsat, and was previously a senior investment banker at Morgan Stanley, while Baker recently led the engagement strategy that was instrumental to the global expansion for Airware, SAVO Group and Citrix.
Baker as Airobotics’ CRO will drive new revenue opportunities created by digital products and services. He will additionally engage with clients to help them achieve their digitization strategies by aligning the Airobotics Unified Data Platform—hardware, software and analytics—to deliver the best possible customer experience.
“I can’t imagine a more pivotal moment to join Airobotics. Automation, modern software technology and strong customer relationships have transformed the company to a holistic solutions provider,” said Baker. “Airobotics gives me the opportunity to apply my previous executive sales and technology experience to a company that is at the forefront of automated drone solutions.”
Baker brings extensive experience in enterprise software implementation, professional services and customer success, leading and executing sales strategies in the drone space as well as industries leveraging software-as-a-service (SaaS), predictive analytics and IoT. Prior to his work across technology sectors, Baker proudly served in the US Marine Corps for 15 years.
Atkins as Airobotics’ CFO will be responsible for leading global financial operations and strategic planning. He brings with him over two decades of success across markets including technology, media, telecommunications and finance. In his executive roles, Atkins has driven large initiatives such as platform roll-ups, valuations, strategic acquisitions and divestments, long-term business and financial planning and the implementation and overhaul of financial reporting systems and controls while advancing each company for growth.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Airobotics team and look forward to assisting in the company’s further success in the coming years,” said Atkins. “Airobotics distinguishes itself as a leader in the robotic drone space, and having closely followed the company’s success, I look forward to further solidifying Airobotics’ leadership position in automated drone solutions.”
The appointments represent the next step in Airobotics’ continued expansion. Airobotics recently announced its FAA Certificate of Waiver in the US to fly Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) and raised another $30M Series D round of funding, bringing its total capital raised to $101M.
